Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Bootle, drivers must be at least 21 years old. Age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for those under 25. A valid driving license, appropriate for the vehicle category and held for the minimum period outlined in the Rental Agreement, is required. Renters must present valid identification and proof of current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria may be specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or in person at our Bootle office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required at the time of vehicle pick-up. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include applicable VAT. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment services.
4. Picking Up and Returning Vehicles
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed to document the state of the car. Please ensure that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as when it was picked up, accounting only for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated, and you may incur charges based on the extent of the damage. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as received; refueling fees apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please inform us promptly if you anticipate a delay. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, in addition to an administration fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Details regarding coverage and excess amounts are outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to help lower your liability. It is important to review these options thoroughly. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For specifics, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges, so it is wise to review these terms carefully.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used as intended, adhering to passenger and weight limits. Traveling outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Bootle will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for the rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be addressed exclusively by the courts of England and Wales.
10. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continuing to use our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
